Floral Fest - 31 Day Drawing Challenge
Hello! Welcome to my blog, today I want to tell you about a project that I have been working on for a couple of months. A 31-day flower drawing challenge, starting October 1st. The idea arose because I personally want to improve my creativity in drawing flowers, I realize that when creating floral art, I draw the same types of flowers and I can think of few ideas, that is why I wanted to do this challenge which at first was just for me, but then I thought it would be more fun and, above all, more motivating if I did it in company.
The reason for this challenge is simple, flowers never go out of style and are always trendy. And it doesn't matter if the flowers are the main theme of your design, or if they are part of the final set, such as in a landscape or scene, or in the print of your character's clothing. It doesn't even matter if these are seamless patterns, or if they are prints. The medium you use to create art is not important either. Flowers are and always will be a captivating subject for creating art, and mastering this area, or improving it, never hurts.
They say that practice makes perfect, and it is only after many hours, days, months and years of practice that an artist finds his style, it is a process that does not emerge overnight, so having challenges of drawing that give you ideas about what to draw, that helps you get out of your comfort zone, it is a good way to acquire skill, build, improve or reinforce your own style, and why not? Create a new collection to license.
This fun Floral Fest Challenge will begin on October 1st, it will be done and followed through Instagram and during each day of the challenge you will draw a different flower in the medium you want, whether it is the technique you usually use or a new one that you want to explore, you can create patterns, prints or whatever you want. You set the rules for how you want to draw the flowers, the important thing is to include the flower of the day in your composition.
But here the idea is also to be creative, and if you can't make a flower or a drawing every day, you can group the days and add several flowers to your drawing, those for each day that you are including. For example: on day 1 the flower is Dahlia and on day 2 Lavender, so you could create a first drawing that includes those two flowers, or even more if you wish.
But you can also decide that instead of doing the 31 days of the challenge your goal is to do only 21 days, and choose the days you want to participate.
In short, this challenge is very flexible, because it is about what each person needs at the moment and above all, what they can cover, maybe you are too busy right now to create something new every day, but you can allow yourself to create something 2 times a week, so you can adapt the challenge according to your needs and return to it again and again as inspiration and regardless of whether it is no longer October.
This challenge starts in October, and I will also be creating my illustrations during this month, but I wanted this challenge to be available beyond that date, so if you come to this post at a later date you will still be able to get the list of instructions and start the challenge on your own, or why not? Invite a friend so you can do it together and motivate each other.
How to access the list of flower instructions for the challenge?
You will be able to access the list of Prompts from my Instagram account, I will be publishing it in the next few days. But you could also download the free guide that I lovingly created for the challenge, in which you not only find the list of flowers, but also a reference image for each flower, as well as drawing tips and 12 suggested color palettes, among other things. If you are interested in obtaining this plus, you can download the workbook here.
How to participate in the challenge?
The first thing you should do is follow me on @artprink to keep track of the challenge, the next thing is to save the post with the Prompts or download the Workbook.
Then you will choose which day or days you will participate and you will make your creations each day that you have proposed.
You will share your creation on your Instagram account with the hashtag #floralfestartprink (I suggest following it) and you will tag me so I can see your work and share it in my stories.
I will even make a small selection each week of the challenge and share some of the work and links to their accounts, through my newsletter. This way your work can be seen by many more people.
Thus, this challenge has several purposes. Develop and improve your drawing skill, meet and share with other artists. Gain confidence with your art, among many others. You can have your own purpose when doing this challenge and I love that. Do you join the challenge?
I already want to see everything you can create!
