Results of the First Floral Challenge 2023

Hello, it took me a month to share this, because time definitely passes very quickly and almost without us realizing it.

The floral illustration challenge that began in October was a very nice experience, with few participations, very few were encouraged and I understand that with so many challenges it is difficult to even decide on one, but I met some artists in the process and since there were few the participants, we were able to establish a closer relationship and it was great.

For me, the purpose of the challenge was not only to feel more comfortable drawing flowers, it was also to have a broader and more varied catalog of them, which I always end up drawing the same ones. But one of the main purposes for me was to become skilled in using Affinity Designer as a vector drawing tool. I have purchased this application, which is a one-time payment and allows me to save a lot of money, and I have it installed on my PC and my iPad, and I created each illustration of the challenge in it.

I have to say that in the process of this challenge I not only became much more skilled with this application, I really fell in love with it, to the point that I will no longer continue using Illustrator for my vector illustrations, and Procreate will continue to be among my tools, but now so just for the sketch.

During the challenge I used only two applications: Procreate to create each of the sketches and Affinity Designer for the final illustration.

I like this tool more than Procreate for the final work, because being a vector I can scale the design to any size, and this is especially useful if, like me, you work with art licenses, since this allows you to adapt the design to everyone's projects. sizes, without loss of quality.

Below I leave you the illustrations created during the challenge, which are now available for licensing. If you are a company interested in doing business and licensing my art, feel free to get in touch via the contact form.

If you are an artist and would like to improve your skill, have ideas to practice your illustration daily, create a collection of patterns or illustrations, this challenge can be useful to you, and the good thing is that you can still do it on your own.
