My first collection of patterns for fabrics in Spoonflower
Hello, here again. Today I want to talk to you about a new collection that I have created. And this time it's about my Spring Summer Picnic Collection designed especially for Spoonflower.
This collection is important to me for many reasons, the first is that it is the first collection of large patterns I have ever done, I have never designed so many seamless patterns at the same time, let alone as part of a set, which requires a lot of planning and synchronization in aspects such as style, color and theme.
The second most important thing is that it is my entry into the world of fabric patterns, something that I have been longing for since my beginnings in this career as an artist and illustrator. Since my beginnings I dreamed of being part of Spoonflower, but I wasn't ready yet, and the moment finally arrived.
The other reason why it is so important is because this collection has been designed partly from Bogotá, Colombia, where I lived for three years, and the rest I completed, even the idea grew and matured, when I arrived in Madrid , Spain, to live with my family and pets.
The Spring Summer Picnic Collection of fabric patterns mark for me the transition from one country to another, my process of adaptation, of growth. In fact you may notice that some parts don't seem to fully mesh with the others, if you have an eye for these things you may notice, otherwise you may not. However, the difference was visible to me, but I wanted to respect it, precisely to honor that evolution and that change in my life. I love the patterns that I created in Colombia, as well as who I was in that country that gave me true moments of happiness, but I also love very much the patterns that I created from my new home in Madrid.
The theme of spring is because when I designed it it was for that date, and it was very much inspired by that cool, pleasant and cozy climate, which is also felt in Bogotá (for me the best climate if we ignore the rains). But as soon as I arrived there were several heat waves that quickly turned this cool weather into a slow cooker. I had a terrible time, and I remember that in the midst of desperation I got a Spanish fan, I bought it in a souvenir shop for tourists, and for me it was like having a toy in my hands, I loved it and that's how another idea was added to my employer and it also became Summer.
Thus, this collection with 42 patterns includes refreshing fruity patterns in cheerful pastel tones, Spanish hand fans, and classic stripes, dots, gingham and checkered prints.
You can see the complete collection at Sponflower in a wide range of fabrics, they have many options to choose the one that best suits the project you are going to develop. But if you don't do crafts it's also available in a wide range of home decor and wallpaper products.
